The Academy

Curriculum, Benefits, & Innovations

At our academy, we equip students with more than vocational skills. We nurture confidence, independence, and purpose through a curriculum that combines life skills, social interaction, and hands-on job training. Through innovation and responsive instruction, we prepare graduates to contribute meaningfully to their communities and thrive in new environments.

Our Curriculum

The Academy has four main standards for curriculum. Within each standard, a myriad of subtopics will be covered to fully equip students with the knowledge needed to be successful in their future employment. Standards will be ongoing throughout the 3- month Educate pillar to deliver a well-rounded vocational training experience.

Standard 1: Life Skills for successful employment

Standard 2: Social Skills for positive work interactions

Standard 3: Vocational Skills

How is a Person Referred to the Kindness Developmental Center?

The Kindness Developmental Center's enrollment process involves the referral of participants through various channels, including the Georgia Department of Labor's Vocational Rehabilitation Program, metro area schools, the Veterans Administration, workers' compensation insurance companies, and other rehabilitation providers. Furthermore, individuals can self-refer to the Program Coordinator(insert Phone Number). Referring agencies must provide pertinent referral information such as medical, psychological, or educational documentation, which the team members review to assess an individual's eligibility. Upon acceptance into a program, participants will undergo an intake interview, during which the team members will assist in arranging transportation and determining a start date.

Kindness Developmental Center is deeply committed to providing its services without discrimination based on race, religion, gender, or national origin. Our admission process is designed to be fair and inclusive, dependent on an individual's demonstrated need for the services, alongside the availability of program funding. Additionally, individuals not financially sponsored by a referring agency may also be admitted, subject to meeting all admission criteria. Fees for services will be discussed with the applicant prior to admission.

Applicants seeking admission to the Kindness Developmental Center must meet specific guidelines, including being at least 16 years of age, providing proper identification as required by the U.S. Department of Justice for Employment Eligibility Verification, and presenting written evidence dated within the last three years, documenting the need for services. Furthermore, applicants must be able to care for personal needs independently, demonstrate adequate mobility skills, not pose a danger to themselves or others, and agree to participate in the center's programs voluntarily.

Additionally, applicants are required to follow all rules and regulations and ensure their own transportation to and from the center's locations. Kindness Developmental Center reserves the right to request specific medical, psychological, or other diagnostic or social information that may be essential to an individual's successful rehabilitation.

Kindness Developmental Center is dedicated to providing equal opportunities to all qualifying individuals with disabilities, irrespective of their demographic background. Whether referred or self-referred, the center is driven by a strong commitment to assist individuals in achieving their goals.
